And immediately after that last post, I was given the afternoon off! Someone up there is definitely listening…

If I were a parent...
In the spirit of hating children, here’s a short list of tactics I will use for my own offspring (if I dare ever reproduce after this experience), developed from my observations here: Please, Thank you, and Sorry, will be staples in my kids’ vocabulary. My children will not be rewarded for good behavior, for good behavior should be expected. Tantrums involving thrown shoes and/or...

On being present...
Lately, I’ve been finding myself counting down the days until December 6th. Slowly, but surely, days pass, and I’m merely going through the motions. I’m not enjoying myself. I’m too busy thinking ahead to get any sort of enjoyment out of these last 10 weeks, when this should be the time of my life. Yes, I have two children from the deep depths of hell on my hands, but I...

Keep on going...
Whipping together some “interesting” material to put on this blog is becoming exhausting. Most of what’s going on in my life right now is either a) a complete bore-fest, or b) not anything worth sharing. I guess those two go hand-in-hand, though. I’ve been in Spain now for 14 weeks, going on 15. I’m on the countdown now with only 11 weeks until I return to the US....

Oh, little blog, how I neglect you...
Apparently, I keep forgetting about this corner of the internet, seeing as my posts have been very few and far between this past week. The past handful of days have been pretty rocky, and lots of tears have been shed. Thankfully, I have many people to pour out my feelings to, otherwise, I’d be halfway to Crazytown by now. Living in Spain is as amazing as it sounds. The different culture,...

Chef Simpson
I made lunch today ALL BY MYSELF for the first time since I’ve been here. I guess since this was in my job description, it was about time. You know what? It was delicious! It might have taken me nearly an hour to make, and I may have left a gigantic mess, but it went rather smoothly! I have a whole new appreciation for my mom’s cooking, seeing as she cooked for five every. single....

Por fin!
Today is FINALLY the last day I will be taking care of these children full time. SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW! After yet another horrendous morning with the kids, I can finally pawn them off to their teachers. Unfortunately, they have half days for the month of September, but this should be a piece of cake compared to the amount of time I’ve had to spend with them the past 3 months. GOOD...

Pancakes twice in one week?
Don’t mind if I do. This update about my life in Spain has been brought to you by my stomach.
